Simms and Laurel Hecker will introduce participants to sets of argumentation and reasoning skills derived from current standards documents, concrete strategies and processes for teaching those skills directly, and a variety of games and activities that reinforce and engage students in meaningful practice of the skills. They will discuss skills and games for students at all levels—elementary, middle, and high school—and explain a simple model for helping students understand and practice these critical thinking skills in the classroom.
