Essentials: Identifying What's Most Important to Teach Webinar
Presented by Julia A. Simms
October 4, 2016 | 1:00 p.m. MT (3:00 p.m. ET)

Research indicates that most standards documents articulate far more content than can be taught in the time available to K–12 teachers. In response, analysts at Marzano Research sought to identify, as objectively as possible, a focused set of Critical Concepts for each K–12 grade level in the content areas of English language arts (ELA), mathematics, and science.

In this webinar, we'll explain the eight-phase process used to identify and articulate the Critical Concepts in English language arts, mathematics, and science. We'll provide an overview of standards-based grading and proficiency scales, describe how schools and districts can use our free Critical Concepts measurement topics to design their own proficiency scales, and explain how the Critical Concepts proficiency scales product can be validated and customized to align with local standards and benchmarks.

Plan for approximately 45 minutes of pertinent information with 15 minutes for questions and answers. Attendees can join up to 30 minutes before the event begins.
